Clay Wall Coating
Tracing the memory of a thousand-year-old kiln fire through fingertips
Key Features
Every wall is hand-troweled by skilled artisans, leaving unique brush marks that machines cannot replicate.
Clay minerals impart a soft, warm tone to the coating, creating a visually comforting and stable feel.
The porous structure of natural clay enables walls to "breathe," automatically regulating indoor humidity.
Made primarily from natural clay with no synthetic resins, it imposes minimal burden on both the environment and users.
Why choose it
Inspired by China's traditional pottery, our modern clay wall material builds on thousands of years of proven performance. Clay is one of the oldest and most reliable building materials. Our advanced formula preserves the natural texture of clay while solving common issues with traditional earth walls—such as poor water resistance and dusting. Ideal for spaces that value cultural depth and a handcrafted feel: not cold industrial products, but warm, breathable walls with an authentic earthen character.

Product Origin and Installation
Product Origin
The formula for clay wall material is rooted in the traditional Chinese "plastering mud" technique. Ancient builders mixed yellow earth with natural fibers like straw and hemp to coat walls, achieving both insulation and breathability. Modern clay wall materials enhance this foundation by incorporating calcined clay powder and natural mineral pigments, boosting the coating's strength and color stability while preserving the handcrafted texture and breathability of the original method.
Construction Process
Surface Preparation: Level the wall and apply a bonding agent to enhance adhesion.
Clay scraping: Manually apply the clay material to the wall using a specialized trowel, with a thickness of 2-3mm.
Texture Shaping: Create a natural texture with a putty knife or sponge while the material is still damp.
Dry curing: Air-dry for 48 hours or more. Do not force-dry.
Surface Protection: Apply one coat of natural water-based protective agent to enhance water resistance.
Real-world effect
After construction, the wall surface features warm earthy tones ranging from tan to reddish-brown, depending on the selected clay palette. From a distance, the color appears soft and uniform with an authentic rammed-earth aesthetic. Up close, visible hand-applied strokes create natural, flowing textures that vary slightly across the surface. The finish feels smooth and warm to the touch, similar to glazed pottery, with subtle grain but no roughness. Under angled lighting, these manual marks cast gentle shadows, giving the wall a sense of life.
